Letters of William Moore to his family [manuscript], 1852.

Many of the letters discuss the Anglo-Burmese war, the taking of Martaban, tyranny of native rulers, and hopes for the blessing British rule will bring. He writes of their life in Moulmein, the slow progress of his work and his dedication to it. He also describes the rice harvest, problems with marauding tigers and a drunken elephant driver, a cholera epidemic, fear caused by an eclipse, and delight at the coming of the telegraph.
